2. Home Connect





With Home Connect, you can keep parents involved by linking the school and home to further reinforce motivation to maintain reading practice.
By logging on from their home computer, students and parents can:

  • See progress toward reading goals.
  • Review results on AR quizzes.
  • View number of books read, words read, and quizzes passed.
  • But most importantly, students can’t complete quizzes, so you can ensure their quiz results are just theirs!


3. AR BookGuide




AR BookGuide is the computerized collection management and development tool that automates alignment of your books with AR quizzes. You simply export the resource data from your library management system and import into AR BookGuide on a regular basis. You can then:

  • Quickly see which books in your library matches an AR Quiz
  • Create book lists which students can view and search in AR Book Finder
  • Create personalised reading lists for each student based on their reading range
  • Create book lists to promote new books or authors to students


4. AR Book Finder


Now, anyone can search for AR books online for free!  That means parents, guardians, and students can conduct book searches by author, readability level, point value, and topic.  Then, they can place the titles in their online AR BookBag, print it, and take it to the school library or even use the public library to find books that match their interests.

AR BookFinder also provides accessibility to the book lists generated by classroom teachers using AR BookGuide.  The book lists contain titles of books that teachers assign or recommend for students to read

Your annual subscription to AR Advantage includes all the currently released Australian quizzes and all the future monthly updates.  As of August 2010, we have released 17,500+ quizzes into the Australian database.  This includes more than 7,000 quizzes this year.

Vocabulary Practice Quizzes are the really big leap forward with AR Advantage.  These new quizzes measure a student’s command of vocabulary words encountered while reading.  They are designed to reinforce vocabulary acquisition, assist with individualising vocabulary instruction, and motivate a student’s interest in words through authentic, in-context literature experiences.

Quizzes include 5, 10, or 15 words from a particular book as well as review words from previously read books.


6. Training and Setup

When you sign up to AR Advantage we develop and then implement a specific project plan with your AR Coordinator.  Your plan will include detailed step-by-step instructions to make the move from the desktop product over to AR Advantage.

Our typical plan includes:

  • Building your school specific database on our servers in our secure data centre
  • Setting a strategy for student usernames and passwords to they are easily remembered
  • Setting up your new student accounts, teacher accounts and classes so that quizzing can begin immediately
  • Migrating your old Accelerated Reader data across to the new system

  • Setting up your AR BookGuide site
